Job Summary
The Occupational Therapy Program Chair serves as a role model to faculty and provides both academic and administrative leadership. They also provide academic and administrative leadership for the department. Plans, implements, and assesses program outcomes; designs, implements, and evaluates curriculum; and recruits, selects, and advises students. Anticipates and recommends program resource needs; responsible for program budgets.

Essential Functions Responsibilities include: course instruction; management of personnel; curriculum planning and development; strategic planning and assessment; programmatic accreditation reporting and oversight; budget and resource management; development of policies and procedures; enrollment management; scholarship; and, service. The successful candidate must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude, a strong work ethic, and be committed to the College’s core values of caring, commitment, teamwork, and integrity.  

 

 

  • Manages program and quality management.
  • Oversees planning, development, and implementation of curriculum in accordance with emerging trends and approval/accrediting agencies.
  • Teaches: whether teaching face-to-face, online, in the classroom, clinical, or lab setting.
  • Collaborates with Admissions and Student Affairs staff to recruit, select, and retain students.
  • Anticipates and recommends needed resources.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors program budgets.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to guide and support the program.
  • Continually develops knowledge of pedagogy, the academic discipline, program management, and as appropriate, the clinical profession.

Physical Requirements
Normal or corrected auditory and visual acuity. Frequent periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, and stretching. Able to use standard office equipment, including computers. Environment is climate controlled with occasional exposure to inclement weather when travelling between buildings. Occasional driving to other locations. Generally works days with occasional evenings, nights, and weekends.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited college or university required. The doctorate is not limited to a doctoral degree in occupational therapy. Certified Occupational Therapist and licensed in North Carolina required. Minimum of 8 years documented experience in the field of occupational therapy required. This experience must include: Clinical practice as an occupational therapist; Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting; Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning); and at least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.

 

This is a 12-month, day position that requires some weekend and evening meetings
