New Graduate RN Opportunities

Carolinas HealthCare System is proud to offer a Transition to Practice Nurse Residency Program for all New Graduate Registered Nurses at the beginning of their nursing career.

Who is considered a New Graduate RN at Carolinas HealthCare System?

New Graduate RNs who are soon to graduate from an accredited RN education program or who have recently graduated from an accredited program and have less than six months' clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.

Please review the following information before you begin the application process.

Timeline for Spring 2018 New Graduate RNs

December 18 - January 26
      -Online applications are accepted. Priority consideration will be given to applicants who submit a completed application by January 19. A complete packet includes: online application with attached cover letter and resume; CHS Areas of Interest Survey; and two clinical instructor references. 

February 1 - May 1
      -Completed applications are shared with hiring managers for review
      -Selected candidates are scheduled for interviews and offers are extended

June, July and August 2018
      -CHS New Graduate RNs attend orientation

Note: For your application to be considered complete, all components must be submitted by end of day January 26. The New Graduate Center will email you once all the components of your application packet have been received.

Application Process

 The application links will be available from December 18 to January 26

  1. Complete the online application by applying to the New Graduate RN position, using requisition number 148801 or search keywords "New Graduate RN" - Attach your resume and cover letter stating why you want to work at Carolinas HealthCare System. Save your resume as your full name followed by “Resume” and your cover letter as your full name followed by “Cover Letter.” If you have an American Heart Association BLS card that is valid through November 30, 2018, attach a copy in the "Supporting Documents" section of the New Graduate application.
  2. Complete the Areas of Interest Survey. This survey will help the New Graduate Center better understand your top areas of clinical and facility interest.
  3. Request that two (2) clinical instructors complete the Clinical Reference Form. Add your name and date to the top of the reference form and email the form to each instructor. Ask each instructor to email the completed document to NewGraduateRNCenter@carolinashealthcare.org. We do not accept mailed clinical references. If you applied as a New Graduate RN during a previous application cycle, please email the NewGraduateRNCenter@carolinashealthcare.org to ask if your clinical references are still on file. In your email, please alert us of any name changes. All references should be received by January 26.

 
Next Steps Once Application Is Complete

  • Once all components of the application packet are received, the New Graduate Center team will notify you via email and begin the screening and review process
  • Your selections of facility and clinical areas of interest will be utilized to match you with interview opportunities. Application packets will be sent to hiring leaders for review
  • Hiring leaders will contact new graduates to schedule interviews, which may include peer interviews. The phone number and email listed on your resume will be used to contact you for interviews; therefore it is important to email us if you have any changes to your contact information
  • Once a hiring decision is made, hiring leaders will notify the New Graduate Center team and we will extend offers

Transition to Practice Nurse Residency Program

The Transition to Practice Residency Program provides new graduate RNs with a dedicated team of nurse educators who work with new graduates in an atmosphere that promotes learning, clinical application and socialization during the transition from student nurse to Registered Nurse.

The program includes educational experiences including classes and simulation lab experiences, as well as clinical orientation with a Preceptor, providing a solid foundation for clinical decision making, time management and interdisciplinary communication.

There are multiple specialty tracks available, including:

Adult Critical Care Nurse Residency Program
24-month service commitment upon completion of extended orientation

Adult Acute Care Nurse Residency Program 
Clinical areas include: Ambulatory practices, Behavioral Health, Cardiac-Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, Orthopedics, Neuroscience, Rehabilitation and Renal

Continuing Care Nurse Residency Program
Clinical areas include: Skilled Nursing, Home Care and Hospice

​Emergency (Adult) Department Nurse Residency Program

​Maternal-Newborn Nurse Residency Program
Clinical areas include: Labor & Delivery, High Risk Pre/Post-Partum and Mother-Baby

Oncology Nurse Residency Program
Inpatient and Ambulatory tracks including:
Bone Marrow Transplant, Infusion Center, Clinics and Clinical Trials

Neonatal Nurse Residency Program (Intensive & Progressive Care)

Pediatric Nurse Residency Program
Clinical areas include: Pediatric Acute & Progressive Care, Pediatric Emergency Department and PICU

Perioperative (OR) Nurse Residency Program
24-month service commitment upon completion of extended orientation

Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse Residency Program
